Laminar air flows can maintain a working area devoid of contaminants. Many medical and research laboratories require sterile working environments in order to carry out specialized work. Laminar Flow Cabinets can provide the solution.

Laminar Flow Cabinets create particle-free working environments by projecting air through a filtration system and exhausting it across a work surface in a laminar or uni-directional air stream. They provide an excellent clean air environment for a number of laboratory requirements.

Laminar Flow Cabinets are suitable for a variety of applications and especially where an individual clean air environment is required for smaller items, e.g. particle sensitive electronic devices.

Laminar Flow Cabinets can be tailor made to the specific requirements of the laboratory and are also ideal for general lab work, especially in the medical, pharmaceutical, electronic and industrial sectors.

Types of Laminar Flow Cabinets

Laminar Flow Cabinets can be produced as both horizontal and vertical cabinets

  • Hanging LAF

Horizontal LAF:

Horizontal Laminar Flow Cabinets receive their name due to the direction of air flow which comes from above but then changes direction and is processed across the work in a horizontal direction. The constant flow of filtered air provides material and product protection.

Vertical LAF:

Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinets function equally well as horizontal Laminar Flow Cabinets with the laminar air directed vertically downwards onto the working area. The air can leave the working area via holes in the base. Vertical flow cabinets can provide greater operator protection.


  • Cabinet is fitted with pre filter and HEPA filter
  • HEPA filter has efficiency rating of 99.99% with cold DOP 99.97% with hot DOP
  • Retains all air borne particle of size 0.3 micron or larger
  • Outer body made of MS and work table made of SS
  • Blower and motor assembly is ISI marker
  • Built in UV germicidal light with disinfection
  • Built in Fluorescent light for illumination
  • Pressure manometer to gauge the pressure drop in the unit
  • Utility gas / air cock and multi-port electric socket


  • Front door made of transparent acrylic or polycarbonate sheet in lieu of plexus glass
  • Digital Magnehelic gauge with filter choke alarm
  • Interlocking of UV germicidal tube and door will auto switch off UV light when the door is opened
  • Microprocessor LCD controller with auto night set back mode for motor blower when door is closed. Digital buzzer timer sounds an audio alarm on completion of sterilizing time of the Chamber and the switches off U.V. germicidal tune and automatically switches ON the Fluorescent light, alerting user that the bench is ready for use.
  • Door alarm when sash is opened above safe height of 8”.
  • Hour meter totalizer for U.V. light

Hanging LAF:

  1. Outer body made of MS duly powder coated/ SS 304
  2. Unit is fitted with pre Filter and HEPA Filter
  3. Washable pre filter of efficiency 90% down at 10 micron
  4. Minipleat HEPA filter efficiency 99.97% thus retaining all air-borne particles of size 0.3 micron
  5. Analog type magnehelic gauge to monitor pressure drop across HEPA filter
  6. Fluorescent light for illumination of work area
  7. Noise level less than 65 db. Air cleanliness Class ISO : 5 (As per ISO 14644-1)
